Barcaccia

After Bernini, 1627.

In 1627, the Bernini family decoded the Baroque lines of a half-sunken boat and carved it into Roman travertine at the foot of the Spanish Steps. Four centuries later, the Fontana della Barcaccia still holds water — and the gesture that built it.

Barcaccia is its private answer. An ergonomic shell that does not merely contain water — it celebrates it as sculptural element. The authority of Italian history, brought into contemporary architecture.

The form embraces the body. The finish tells the story. The technology disappears.

Three Techniques. One Surface.

To enrich the Barcaccia shell, we offer three mosaic methodologies — from geometric rigour to the mastery of the manual cut.

Opus Regulatum

Pixel Technique

Tesserae laid in a regular grid where each element becomes a pixel of colour. The ideal solution for a contemporary, precise texture — creating dynamic, iridescent chromatic gradients.

Opus Vermiculatum

Artistic Technique

Master mosaicists cut each tessera by hand to follow the Baroque curves of the Barcaccia. The organic lines of the sculpture traced with unmatched fluidity — the surface becomes an eternal painting.

Collezione Gold

24K Gold Mosaic

Patented tesserae with 24-carat gold leaf sealed between layers of glass for an unalterable luminosity. Available in smooth, undulated, or satin-finished gold.

By Commission: Total customisation of colour, pattern, and technique. If we can lay it by hand, we can lay it for one.

We do not list specifications. We declare what the piece is made of — and what it is not.

- I

Solid Surface

A non-porous engineered material that allows the tub to be realised with invisible seams — appearing as a single block carved from the solid. Silky to the touch, absolute hygiene, and a pristine white that endures unchanged over time.

- II

Art Mosaic

A celebration of light through tesserae of the highest quality — artistic glass or gold leaf. Laid entirely by hand in our atelier. Tens of thousands of tesserae per piece.

- III

CNC-Carved Marble

For the most particular commissions, we sculpt the Barcaccia directly from blocks of fine Italian marble using CNC technology. Millimetric precision married to the nobility of natural stone.

Each piece is signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of provenance.
